Abstract

|
Myotonia dystrophica or myotonia atrophica is inheritant disease which appears usually from 2nd or 3rd decade. This disorder is characterized by an impaired ability to relax a previously contracted muscle, muscle weakness and atrophy, cataract and multiple system involvement including the endocrines.
The electrophysiological characteristics of myotonia dystrophica show a essential, differential features from the other myotonias with myopathic EMG changes.
This paper describes 3 siblings with myotonia dystrophica and a case with no members of families clinically affected, and they were studied by clinically and by electromographically.
